Austin Rifle Club 2023 Annual Membership Meeting (Education Bldg)
The 2023 Annual Membership Meeting
will be on Thursday December 7, 2023 at 6:30 pm.
It will be held at the Austin Rifle Club Education building.
Agenda:
* 4:30 – 6:25 Social hour
* 6:30 Call to order and pledge of allegiance
* 2023 year in review
* Review the Five Year Plan and Budget
* Review the status of the Range and Facilities construction project
* Ask members for authorization to award the contract to the lowest responsive bidder if necessary (see note below)
Note: On this last bullet point of asking the membership to authorize, at issue here is that if our original expectation of receiving 3 competitive bids comes to fruition within the budget as presented to the membership, then it is within the BoD’s authority to award the bid. However, since we are now repackaging the bid with a possible outcome of a lowest responsive bid that is off-point from original expectations as given to the membership, then the board will ask the membership to authorize awarding the bid in that circumstance. At the time of writing this meeting agenda (at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting), bid responses are still unfolding and no final determination has yet been made.
* Old business
* New Business
* Election of Officers (see details, below)
* Prize Drawings
* Swear in the newly elected officers
* Meeting Adjourned
About the election of Officers:
* Probationary members are not eligible to vote.
* Reminder that in last year’s election, since due to COVID we had got out of cycle with elections, we trued-up by having odd-year positions be elected for a one-year term, to get back in cycle.
Odd-year board positions open for election are the following:
1. President: Ben Gilman is stepping down for the reason that he is moving away from the Austin area. The position of President is a two-year position elected in even-year cycles. This position is open for election of a new candidate, to fill the remaining one year vacancy. As with all positions open for election, the board invites candidates who are interested in running for this or any of the offices open for election.
2. Education Director: Luca Barbera will stand for re-election
3. Maintenance Director: Mark Steinhagen will stand for re-election
4. Vice President: Cindi Martin will stand for re-election
5. Secretary: John Buller will stand for re-election
Members interested in running for any of these positions should notify John Buller at secretary@austinrifleclub.org.
Members in good standing with at least 36 months of continuous membership are eligible to serve.
